The nursery is placed between the warrior's den and the apprentices den for the particular reason that it is easiest to guard there. The cats in this den are female warriors that have recently have kits and the kits that they have had. Kits leave the nursery at the age of six moons and are only held back if they have done something that would delay their apprentice ceremony.
