Although he doesn't put much stalk in appearances, Silentstar is a handsome tom. At least, so he's been told. He sure doesn't know. He definitely has this ragged look to him, mostly because of the impressive amount of scars. He's a fairly large tom, made for brute strength rather than speed. It isn't that he isn't fast or anything like that – he's just built more for tackling and squishing cats, not being agile and swift like a deer. He has unusually long claws, making him potentially one of the most deadliest cats in the forest – not that he goes around killing other cats for the fun of it. He just relies on brute strength to win most of his fights, and has the scars to prove it.
Silentstar's fur is sleek and soft, always groomed neatly. The base colour of his pelt is a dark brown, almost the colour of wood. On top of that is lighter shades of red and black, streaking his pelt. It goes darker near his face, where it's nearly black. White lines his eyes, making him look like he wears a mask. Silentstar has emerald eyes that can go lighter when angered or upset.
Personality:
True to his name, Silentstar is indeed silent. It isn't to say that he is anti-social, or anything like that. But though he has been shoved into the spotlight due to unforeseeable events, he doesn't crave to be the centre of attention. In fact, Silentstar prefers to stay in the background, always watching, always listening. This traits serves him well as leader, making him wiser beyond his years for it.
Silentstar, first and foremost, is a kind-hearted cat. He cares for his Clan deeply, and always puts others before himself. He tends to take his responsibilities too seriously, and while he isn't suicidal by any means, tends to be a little bit too self sacrificing. He dislikes having to hurt anyone, including those from other Clans. But don't mistake this for weakness - he knows when it is time for talking and when it is time for fighting. He'd prefer not to fight, but things don't always turn out that way. Silentstar is incredibly loyal to his Clan, and would do anything for it.
Silentstar tends to be a bit on the serious side. As previously stated, he doesn't enjoy being the centre of attention. But as leader, he can't help it. He's the type of cat that thinks everything through before making a move, looking at things from all angles before making a decision. He isn't one to be impulsive, nor rash. For this reason, he makes a very good cat to talk to. You can go to him for advice without fear of judgement. He might tease you a bit, but he won't ever judge. Tying into this is his politeness. Around cats he doesn't know or isn't comfortable around, he tends to be very formal, almost rigid, which can be sort of awkward. But once he warms up to you, he is a great friend.
To those who know him well, Silentstar is a warm leader. He enjoys talking with his Clan, and wants to know how everyone is doing in their daily lives. He has a soft spot for kits and queens, and can often be found playing with the kits. It should be noted that when it comes to relationships, Silentstar is about as bright as a burnt out light bulb. You pretty much have to hit him over the head to get him to notice you. Sometimes his seriousness gets misconstrued to aloofness, but that's not the case. He's a friendly and warm cat, and can even be quite goofy at times.
There is, of course, a darker side to him. It takes forever for Silentstar to get angry. Unless you do something totally unforgivable - like Slatefur has - it is extremely hard to get on his bad side. But once you have, woe to you. Slow to anger, slow to forgive, Silentstar will hold grudges. And he knows how to make others' lives miserable, too. Also, Silentstar is incredibly stubborn. Once he makes up his mind, there is absolutely no changing it. It's like trying to move a mountain, or touch the stars. Speaking of stars, Silentstar has a great respect for StarClan, and hopes they chose the right cat to be leader of WindClan.
History:
Silentstar was named Silentkit by his mother Rosetail because, unlike his two brothers and one sister, he rarely said anything at all. Actually, she feared that she was mute when he was a kit, and nearly passed out with relief when he finally spoke. He grew up into a very serious-minded sort of cat, watching out for his siblings as he grew up. Though he was the youngest of the three kits, he was the most mature, something his mother noticed immediately. Despite this, he got into his fair share of trouble, and did have fun playing with his sisters Snowkit and Leaffkit. Snowkit was the bossy and leader of the trio, always bouncing about cheerfully. Leaffkit was laid-back and relaxed, and tended to take Silentkit's side in everything. But they were happy, and very close.
In due time, the three kits became apprentices. To Silentpaw's shock and honour, he became the apprentice of the leader at the time, Icestar. He trained hard, determined to do his mentor good, and seven months after becoming an apprentice, he earned his warrior name after killing a badger that had been near the camp. The only thing that marred his happiness at this was that his mother, Rosetail, had been killed in the fighting. Nevertheless, Silentpaw was ecstatic to receive his warrior name, Silentshadow. Two moons later, his sisters both received their warrior names, Snowwings and Leaffur respectively.
It was then when things started to go downhill. A couple of moons after their warrior ceremony, Leaffur and Silentshadow began to notice that their sister was acting strange. She would be gone from the camp for long periods of time, and come back at odd hours. She still did her warrior duties, and always brought back prey, but she was acting... odd. One night, the two decided to follow her. Sometimes Silentstar wishes they hadn't. To their horror, they found out that their sister had been meeting another cat - a ShadowClan one - and was pregnant with his kits. Leaffur and Silentshadow tried to talk her out of seeing him, but Snowwings wouldn't listen. Her mind was made up and that was that.
There was a lot of gossip among the Clan as who was Snowwings' father of her kits. Of course a queen didn't have to reveal, but everyone wanted to know. Leaffur hated keeping it a secret, though Snowwings had made them promise not to tell anyone. Silentshadow wanted to tell their leader, but would not break his word. That was perhaps one of his greatest mistakes. On the eve of her kitting, Snowwings went to the waterfall, away from everyone. Silentshadow and his sister followed, knowing that she was going to meet her mate. But when they got there, they found Snowwing's bleeding body and that of four kits. Her mate had been discovered by his Clan, and he had to get rid of her.
Leaffur noticed that he had one still mewling kit in his mouth, and tackled him. The two wrestled for a bit before she managed to get to the kit back from him. But in doing so, the she-cat had gotten off balance and had fallen down the waterfall. Extensive search parties were done, but they didn't find the bodies of his sister and niece. Silentshadow had lost his whole family in one fatal swoop, and for the longest time, could barely function. But time heals and although he is still emotionally scarred from it, he did recover. Many moons passed, and he became deputy, then leader, which brings us to now.
